It is never revealed what Birdie had told Rashid and Azam. When Birdie rude-fully dismissing the person, he finally opens up when Azam starts to question him. Rashid then explains that his friend was working at the S.I.N. Rashid wins the fight and proceeds to ask Birdie about Shadaloo, to which Birdie responds that he left. Rashid questions Birdie about where the Shadaloo base is located, and Birdie responds with a fight. One of his friends online tells how he recently saw a man with the Mark of Shadaloo walking around, to which Rashid rushes and leads to Birdie. Rashid is eating in a Chinese restaurant with his servant, Azam, discussing how his friend gone missing and how Shadaloo is involved. Rashid is the eldest son of an old aristocratic Middle Eastern family who's traveling the world in search of a missing friend who has been kidnapped by Shadaloo. They have a very close relationship and he follows Rashid nearly everywhere he goes. The original plan was to give Rashid an easily searchable, top-of-the-alphabet name, but ultimately Nakayama preferred the resonance of the moniker Rashid. Rashid's burly travelling companion, Azam, represents a more traditional take on Middle Eastern fashion, and only got his name after Capcom passed on assigning it to Rashid. This is one of the reasons his outfit's color is white as the developers wanted to draw a comparison between the "squeaky-clean, modern" Rashid (which is also the reason he wears his gadgets), and the "old fashioned, dirty-white-clothes" Ryu. Īccording to Street Fighter V director Takayuki Nakayama, Rashid was intended to be the new main character. An early design had Rashid nearly resembling a cyborg. Katsuhiro Harada, the producer of rival fighting game series Tekken, also encouraged Yoshinori Ono to include a Middle Eastern fighter in the Street Fighter main games. The creation of Rashid was a close collaboration between Capcom Japan, Sony, and Pluto Games (Capcom's officially licensed distributor in the Middle East region). Rashid dubs him a "murderer", brutally punches F.A.N.G around with his wind powers and even threatens to kill him, but holds back when F.A.N.G is knocked down. The only time where Rashid has been seen completely serious is during the final confrontation against F.A.N.G after the latter reveals that he killed Rashid's friend. Despite his goofy antics, Rashid is genuinely a very kind and incredibly heroic person, jumping on to rescue Li-Fen from two guards despite the girl being in no danger and he is also selfless as seen when he stopped Urien from killing Charlie. He also hates to be ignored by other fighters. Similar to Dan Hibiki, Rashid can be very goofy at times he referred to Ryu as " That guy from Twitter" and his encounters with Zangief and R. He is always with Azam in during his travels, in which Azam often tries to keep his master's antics in check but fails. Rashid can also mistake certain people as his relatives, as he mistook Zangief for his grandfather and his servant, Azam. He likes to make friends with other people he meets and will rarely take battles seriously unless it's against a great opponent (like Dhalsim). Though he is very relaxed, Rashid has a great thirst for adventure and will fly into any situation with reckless abandon. Rashid is an easy goer with a laid-back attitude, he has an affinity for any kind of the latest technology especially the internet as well as other new things. Rashid's hair is tied in several dreadlocks. His sport DLC costume is a blue and white soccer uniform with white socks and blue soccer shoes. He is barefoot and wears a white turban with a red gem in the center. His second alternate costume has him wearing only a purple vest with gold outlines, blue-green baggy pants with a red obi, and a scimitar on his waist. He also wears a gray bandanna on his head, a long golden chain necklace on his neck, and a matching chain bracelet in his left wrist. His alternate costume is a modern type of outfit, consisting of a dark gray short sleeve loose shirt with a big golden bear emblazoned at the left side, denim khaki pants, white sandals with a gold round in the center and black soles. He also wears black and dark grey battle wristbands on both of his hands. Underneath is a black sleeveless shirt, white military pants and black open-toed combat boots. His outfit consists of a long white sleeveless trench coat with black straps at the center, tucked into a black sash. His head is adorned with a short white shemagh and a black agal. He also has a yellow-green eyepiece on his left eye which flashes briefly when he activates his V-Trigger. Rashid has short black hair, light brown eyes, and a well-groomed beard. 3.2.2 Other character story appearances.
